Port Lympne werd in 1984 opgezet door de Aspinall Foundation, met als doel om beschermde diersoorten op te vangen. Nu, 35 jaar later, zet de foundation zich in om de dieren weer terug te plaatsen in hun natuurlijke omgeving. Hoogtepunt van hun werk was de geboorte van een jonge gorilla in 2004 in het reservaat in Congo. Sindsdien zijn er al 12 gorilla’s geboren.
Het park is opgedeeld in een basecamp, een dinosaurusbos, een Aziatisch, Zuid-Amerikaans en Afrikaans gedeelte. Ongeveer de helft van het park kun je te voet doen, de andere helft wordt je in een vrachtauto rondgeleid.
Port Lympne ligt vlak bij de plaats Lympne, tussen Folkstone en Eastbourne.
Port Lympne was established in 1984 by the Aspinall Foundation, with the aim of capturing protected animal species. Now, 35 years later, the foundation is committed to placing the animals back in their natural environment. The highlight of their work was the birth of a young gorilla in 2004 in the Congo reserve. Since then 12 gorillas have been born.
The park is divided into a base camp, a dinosaur forest, an Asian, South American and African section. Approximately half of the park can be done on foot, the other half you will be shown around in a truck.
Port Lympne is close to the town of Lympne, between Folkstone and Eastbourne.
